The Casey’s General Stores Distribution Center facility consists of 2 – two-story office areas, 218,000 square feet of dry storage, 70,000 square feet of freezer/cooler, a 17,300 square feet vehicle maintenance building, grounds maintenance building and guard shack. Q & Company served as the Construction Manager for the project and oversaw the project from final site selection through design, construction, commissioning, and closeout. The four buildings are located on a 67-acre site that includes a 300,000-gallon fire sprinkler water storage tank and extensive tractor/trailer concrete paved parking area for Casey’s captive fleet.
The dry storage areas include a two-story tobacco processing facility, a two-story individual item picking module and 5 flammable storage control areas. Multiple automated conveying systems are used in both the refrigerated areas as well as all levels within the dry storage areas. The main building structure consists of both conventional steel and pre-engineered metal building components and is clad with precast concrete panels, metal siding, insulated metal panels and brick. Roofing is a combination of standing seam metal roofing panels and TPO membrane.
